Man of Tomorrow wraps filming, James Gunn confirms

James Gunn confirms Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow has wrapped filming, calling the shoot a joyful experience, ahead of its July 2027 release.

An empty film soundstage after the last day of shooting: lights powering down, a single ghost light on a stand, folded director's chairs and golden light through the open loading door.

On 26 August 2026, James Gunn confirmed that Man of Tomorrow had wrapped. The Superman sequel finished principal photography a little over four months after cameras started rolling.

What we know

Gunn shared the news on Threads, calling the shoot a joyful experience and thanking the cast and crew. Filming had begun on 20 April 2026, and the film now moves into post-production ahead of its 9 July 2027 release.

Over the summer, the cast had kept growing. Matthew Lillard joined in May in an undisclosed role, and in July Xolo Maridueña was reported as returning as Blue Beetle, alongside returning stars David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan, and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac.
