The whole story.

Most of Superman’s enemies are a threat to one city. Darkseid rules a whole planet. Jack Kirby’s tyrant of Apokolips is one of the few villains whose powers can really hurt Superman, and he first appeared in a Superman comic.

Who is Darkseid?

Darkseid is the tyrant ruler of the planet Apokolips. He’s searching for the Anti-Life Equation, and he’s the central villain of Jack Kirby’s Fourth World comics.

Darkseid’s first appearance

Jack Kirby introduced him in a cameo in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (December 1970), then gave him his first full appearance in Forever People #1 (February 1971). So Darkseid’s first steps into the DC universe were in a Superman title.
