First Supergirl trailer introduces Milly Alcock's hard-partying Kara
The first trailer for Supergirl reveals Milly Alcock's rough-edged Kara Zor-El, a glimpse of Krypton, Krypto and Jason Momoa's Lobo.
On 11 December 2025, DC Studios released the first trailer for Supergirl, and it made clear that Kara Zor-El would be nothing like her cousin.
What we know
Milly Alcock’s Kara came across as a reluctant hero with a rebellious streak, more interested in a good night out than saving the day. The trailer offered glimpses of the DCU’s Krypton, where Kara grew up, and brought back Krypto, the scene-stealing superdog from Superman.
There was also a brief first look at Jason Momoa as Lobo, the foul-mouthed intergalactic bounty hunter, a casting that delighted fans who remembered Momoa as Aquaman in the earlier DC films. Matthias Schoenaerts appeared as Krem of the Yellow Hills, the film’s villain. Directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira, the film was dated for 26 June 2026.
Why it matters
The trailer set up a grittier, space-faring adventure, drawn from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. When the film arrived, reviews were mixed, but Alcock won praise. Read the whole story in our Supergirl (2026) guide and our DCU watch order.
